Official blog status: This is an unofficial El Mirage Dry Lake BLM Area Interpretive Volunteer Blog!

After an enjoyable day of assisting at lake comfort station and campsite maintenance efforts I have started gaining insight into the functions and operation of the facility.  This blog is going to document my activities and observations for the next two months and help myself and you, the readers, figure out how to better communicate the opportunities available here at the OHV area.

Part of this is to help people understand the importance of maintaining the lake bed in its natural condition for the many enthusiasts who need a recreational place to enjoy auto, motorcycle, airplane, gyro-copter and land sailing activities.  This dry lakebed is not something that could be created and maintained on a retail or commercial basis.  It is probably never going to exist except in nature.

There are many other off-road (OHV = Off Highway Vehicle) activities that can be enjoyed in the campsites and non-lakebed areas.  With 26,000 (+?) acres, there is much to be enjoyed.

For not I will post stuff here that I run across and add photos and videos when possible.

Happy Reading!  Please share comments any time.
